President Obama and Prime Minister Abe Jointly Mark 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Attack

Overlooking the USS Arizona Memorial, President Barack Obama and Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe jointly participated in a program at Kilo Pier, Pearl Harbor, on December 27, 2016, to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Imperial Japanese attack. Abe, the first Japanese Prime Minister to visit the USS Arizona Memorial, paid a solemn tribute to American men and women who were killed in that attack.

In their remarks at Kilo Pier, President Obama and Prime Minister Abe, in addition to honoring the “souls of those who died in the war,” spoke of the strength and durability of the US-Japan alliance.
