Japanese Doctor, Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara passed away in Tokyo at the age of 105

No doubt many of you have already heard the news that Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara  passed away in Tokyo at the age of 105.  He was an extraordinarily distinguished doctor and internationalist, appreciated by everyone involved in US-Japan relations.

Dr. Hinohara has many friends in the United States, at many of the Japan-America societies and elsewhere throughout our country.  He visited New England frequently, and was instrumental in the preservation of the Whitfield-Manjiro House in Fairhaven, MA, the first home of John Manjiro in this country.  He will be greatly missed.
