Bruce Wilson is a Professor of Comparative Literature at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the current Chair of the Art and Art History Department.  He introduces first-year college students to Ikebana each year as part of a seminar on “Japanese Arts and Ways”.

Bruce has given ikebana presentations at a variety of venues, including the U.S. National Arboretum, the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC, the National Geographic Society, the Hillwood Museum and Gardens, and the Walters Gallery.

He has spent part of every summer since 2006 in Japan, studying the art of Japanese flower arranging at Daikakuji Temple in Kyoto, and offers instruction in this art both on Capitol Hill in Washington and on his farm in Dameron.
