A “Somei Yoshino” cherry tree comes into bloom at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Monday. The species is the earliest cherry tree to bloom in Japan, and the blossoms appeared on the same date as last year and five days earlier than average. It will take up to 10 days more to reach full bloom.
